What we do

A skylight is a hole in the roof. Done right, it is flashed into the roofing system with a kit made for your roof covering and it outlasts the roof around it. Done wrong, it is bedded in sealant that dries out in the Florida sun, and it starts leaking a few seasons later. Most skylight leaks we are called about are flashing problems, not the skylight.

Permits, inspections, and who is responsible

Roofing work in Florida generally needs a permit from the city or county building department, and the permit has to be closed out with a passed final inspection. An open roofing permit is one of the first things that surfaces when a home is sold or refinanced, and it is far more expensive to resolve after the fact.
